Raj has been part of our team since fall of 2009. She also worked at Williams Lake Physiotherapy Clinic from 2009-11. Her interest in physio began when she herself benefited from physical therapy rehabilitation after two knee surgeries in high school. After graduating from Columneetza Senior Secondary, she ventured across the border to obtain an Associate of Arts degree from Bismarck State College and a Liberal Arts degree from Concordia College. In 2008 she graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Then she returned home to Williams Lake to work in the community that she grew up in. Raj promotes an active life style by running, kickboxing, yoga and playing and coaching volleyball and basketball.
Betty was born and raised in Nova Scotia, but has lost most of her East Coast accent. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 1982. She worked in hospitals in Newfoundland and Ontario and private practice in Penticton prior to moving to Williams Lake in 1987. Betty has worked in private practice in Williams Lake since 1987. She has been a co-owner of Pro Physioworks since 1999. Numerous post-graduate courses in orthopaedics include Level 3 Orthopaedic Division courses, MacKenzie and Mulligan courses. She has also taken specialized training in vestibular rehab (vertigo, dizziness and balance disorders). Betty has taught numerous physiotherapy students, as the clinic is an accredited practicum site associated with UBC's Masters Physiotherapy program. She has 25+ years experience in fitting custom made orthotics and knee braces. In conjunction with Stewart Bell, she developed a WorkSafeBC sponsored work conditioning program, which has been running continuously since 1997. She has experience in functional capacity evaluations, job site visits and graduated return to work planning. Betty has additional training in Complete Concussion Management, including Baseline Assessments prior to injury and concussion rehabilitation.. When not working, Betty can be found road biking, xc skiing, backcountry skiing, walking, reading and spending time with her husband, Sean.
Stewart was born and raised in "Bonnie Scotland". He completed his diploma of Physiotherapy in Middlesbrough in north east England in 1979. After graduation he worked in the Scottish hospital system and part time with a semi-professional soccer club. In 1981 he married Lynn, also a physiotherapist, and immediately emigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan. During his 6 years there he worked in private practice and hospital outpatient department. He also further developed his knowledge and practice of sports injuries working with the University of Regina athletes and many other sports including: Silver Broom curling and international figure skating and volleyball events, to name a few.
In 1987 Lynn and Stewart moved to Williams Lake to take over Marathon Physiotherapy Centre and in 1999 merged his clinic with Betty Donahue's Progressive Physiotherapy Ltd to form Pro Physioworks. Stewart continues to enjoy sports physiotherapy and recently retired from 6 years of being the Williams Lake Stampeders hockey team trainer. He also has a keen interest in industrial injuries and ergonomics through several WorkSafeBC contracts. He has 26 years of experience in foot orthotics and knee braces. In his spare time he enjoys mountain biking and cross country skiing.
